Katharina Reinthaller is a theatre director and dramaturg based in London and Vienna. She has worked on award-winning productions with and for venues including The Arcola Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, JW3, Theatre Royal Plymouth and Tobacco Factory Theatres.

Specialising in creating new work, she enjoys collaborating with artists and specialists to create theatre that is thought-provoking and unconventional.

Current developments include It’s the Economy, Stupid! with Worklight Theatre and Anchors with Kidder Theatre Company (Scotland). Other projects include Franca says No, a performance installation with Paper Smokers Theatre and Batman aka Naomi’s Death Show (written by Naomi Westerman, developed with Chronic Insanity Theatre Company, Winner of Vaults Origins Award 2023).

Together with Amy Clare Tasker, she co-heads the Voila! Theatre Festival, a theatre festival designed to break through borders, language barriers and cultural assumptions. We are excited to expand into a multi-venue festival in London in 2024 - find the full programme here.

From 2021-2023, Katharina was Associate Research Fellow at Birkbeck Centre for Contemporary Theatre, developing a living installation around the censorship of female artists with writer Sarah Sigal.

The show Labels is still touring internationally (Australia, Singapore, UK & US) after having won The Scotsman Fringe First Award, The Holden Street Theatre Award, The Peace Foundation Award and being shortlisted for Amnesty International’s Freedom of Speech Award and is still being performed in theatres and schools in the UK.
