They said she couldn’t do it, but Annie, Bessie and Junko did it. From going around the world on a bicycle to doing spectacular airshows or climbing the highest mountains on earth, these women fought the prejudice and scepticism that surrounded them.

Their achievements became milestones in the path towards women’s rights and freedom, challenging the assumption that the “fairer sex” lacks the physical and mental stamina for big deeds. But their adventures were as breathtaking, spellbinding and phenomenal as their male counterparts’.

Where are their stories now? In Miles Apart Together Annie "Londonderry" Kopchovsky, Bessie Coleman and Junko Tabei finally step into the spotlight and get the applause they deserve.

The show was developed as part of Third Angel's Mentoring Programme at The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield and we subsequently presented a first scratch version at Voila Europe Festival 2018. We finished a second phase of R&D with Arts Council England funding and a Community centre tour in London (St.Margaret’s House and Draper Hall) in January 2020 and would have been part of Vaults Festival 2020. We have since created an interactive online version of the show with support from the Austrian Cultural Forum.
